In this webinar Dr Angelia Sanders will present a new toolkit to support program implementation in difficult operating environments with lessons from the global trachoma program.
Speaker: Dr. Angelia Sanders is a Senior Associate Director for the Trachoma Control Program at The Carter Center. She has an extensive background working in public health with a focus on program delivery in resource-poor communities. Though the last 11 years have been based at The Carter Center’s headquarters in Atlanta, Georgia, she previously worked for The Carter Center while living in South Sudan for four years, serving as a regional coordinator in the Guinea Worm Eradication Program before becoming a technical advisor in the Trachoma Control Program. Due to her involvement as Executive Group member in the International Coalition for Trachoma Control, she has been instrumental in the development of a trachoma toolkit focused on special populations for program managers. Dr. Sanders also brings experience from serving in Kenya with the United States Peace Corps, the NATO Civil-Military Fusion Center, and the University of South Florida’s Global Center for Disaster Management and Humanitarian Assistance.
Dr. Sanders earned both her Doctor of Public Health and Master of Public Health from the University of South Florida, where she also received a graduate certificate in humanitarian assistance and a graduate certificate in social marketing. She also earned a Master of Arts in International Studies from Old Dominion University.
