Dr Torres Vitolas holds a PhD in Sociology from the London School of Economics and Political Science. His expertise lies at the interface between human geography and global health. He has conducted research on the socio-cultural determinants of treatment uptake of treatment for schistosomiasis and soil-transmitted helminths in sub-Saharan Africa. At Unlimit Health, he leads the development of community-based sensitisation and behavioural-change strategies for schistosomiasis control and supports ‘Leave No One Behind’ initiatives (e.g., female genital schistosomiasis). Fieldwork experience includes Niger, Malawi, Tanzania, Madagascar, and Cote d’Ivoire, Peru, and Colombia.
