Wim van Brakel holds a medical degree, an MSc in Infectious Disease Epidemiology and a PhD in leprosy. They have worked in Nepal and India in leprosy control and research. Currently, they are working as a Medical Director of NLR and is a member of the Steering Committee of the Leprosy Research Initiative.They chair the ILEP Technical Commission and was a past chair of the NNN DMDI Cross-Cutting Group. Dr. Brakel is passionate about working towards a world free of leprosy and other NTDs.
