Research Review Meeting into Systematic Non-Compliance: “Discussion and Next Steps to address Systematic Non-Compliance in LF MDA”

8- 8:05 am Welcome and review of the agenda

8:05- 8:25 Review of the proceedings from the last two meetings

8:25- 8:30 Structure of the meeting
• Presentation of a framework / decision-tree to guide the discussion
• We will address three current gaps in our knowledge / understanding

  1. We do not have sufficient understanding of the profile of the individual who has never taken the treatment.
  2. We do not know the extent of systematic noncompliance in countries.
  3. We have not identified standardised approaches to address and reduce systematic noncompliance.

8:30- 9:00 Discussion on the terminology
• Aim to reach consensus around a name and a definition

9:00- 9:40 Addressing the gap: We do not have sufficient understanding of the profile of the systematic noncomplier and how they may affect LF transmission.
• Aim to explore how existing data may be analyzed to shed light on the profile of this individual.
• What can be addressed through existing data (short term) and where new research may be needed (medium term)?

9:40-9:45 Break

9:45-10:20 Addressing the gap: We do not know the extent / prevalence of systematic noncompliance in countries.
• Aim to explore how data on systematic noncompliance can be collected in the short term.
• Is there consensus on priority platforms to collect data?

10:15 – 10:55 Addressing the gap: We have not identified standardised approaches to address systematic noncompliance.
• Aim to discuss what the research agenda should be moving forward to ensure a programmatic response to systematic noncompliance (short – medium term)
• What research is needed to assess and address SNC using new approaches (medium term)?
